Plasticor heat-insulated skydome layers
The skydomes - mostly on flat roofs – provides solid light in bigger spaces, where the standard windows cannot provide enough light for the whole room. Thanks to the shaping and the material and equipment use, the presences of the domes are aesthetic, and have a perfect thermal insulation.
Available colors
The color of the skydome layers can be:
- clear
- white (opal)
- outer layer white (opal), inner layer(s) clear
- Heatstop
- Solar control IR
- any other from the manufacturer’s range of colours
The transparent layers let through the most light, therefore the most heat too. The opal layers provide pleasant diffused light, so we advise to use it in living spaces or places of work.
The left picture below shows a transparent layered rooflight dome, while the right one shows an opal layered one. Although the amount of light projected are equal, in case of the opal coloured layers the shadows are not so contrasty, the corners become brighter, and therefore the space becomes more pleasing.


The Heatstop and Solar control IR layers lowers the internal heat build up. The Heatstop domes are made of PMMA, their basic colour is opal, therefore providing a pleasant solid light in the room. The Solar Control IR layers are made of polycarbonate (PC), and coloured transparent bronze.
Available materials
The transparent layer can be made of:
- polycarbonate (PC)
- acryl (PMMA)
The polycarbonate layers are unbreakable, with a fire rating of B-s1, d0. The acryl (PMMA) layers have much better weather resistance, and keep their original colour longer.

Available sizes
When choosing the right size of the dome layers, we usually need two dimensions. If you would like replace an extant or damages skydome, then you need the size marked „C”, so you are suggested to measure the existing layers on the rooftop including the small vertical waterfront. When installing to an existing collar (for instance onto a concrete collar) then size marked "E" is the important dimension, as this determines the largest possible outerdimension of the collar on which the skydome layers can be installed. Keep in mind to check the position of the fixing screws based on the size marked "D" not to crack/slit the sides of the concrete collar with the anchors!
